Nevada Bail Bonds Through Bonding Agents
In Nevada, bail bonds are always needed. In larger cities, such as Las Vegas, where there is a lot of crime, it is very important for individuals to have access to bail bonding agents who can help to get them released from jail until their court appearance. In cities where crime rates are high or in areas where it is a concern that individuals will flee, the cost for the bond tends to be higher. In Nevada, bail bonds can be obtained through many commercial bonding agencies. These will provide an excellent opportunity for individuals to get out of jail, at a cost.
How They Work
Bail bonds work quite simply. Once the individual has been arraigned in a court of law, the presiding judge will determine if they will get bail and how much that bail will be. Once this is determined, the criminal defendant can contact a bonding agent and work with them to secure their release.
The first step is to pay a fee on the bond. The fee tends to be in the range of eight to twelve percent of the total cost of the bail set by the judge. This is a non refundable fee no matter what. Next, especially in cases where the bond is set on a high value, the defendant will need to secure the bond through assets or forms of collateral. This bond will not be cashed in, so to speak, unless the individual does not show up for court and skips bail. In this case, the bonding agent will likely try to track down and bring in the individual anyway. If the bond is forfeited, the individual can lose his home or other assets that he used to secure the bond.
Throughout the state of Nevada, in areas such as Henderson, Mesquite, Nye, Reno and other cities and counties, individuals can use commercial bail bonds to get out of jail until their court date. It is essential, though, that those that do use them abide by the laws of the city or state when it comes to bail. If not, they can stand to lose much more than their freedom no matter what the outcome of the case is.
